TSA Screeners in San Jose test positive for COVID-19

Over 40 TSA employees have been instructed to self-quarantine themselves after three TSA screeners test positive for Coronavirus. TSA screeners come into contact with the public more than any federal agency, making them especially vulnerable to Coronavirus. These infected screeners likely came in contact with thousands of passengers, which likely spread the virus further throughout the United States.

In a statement, the TSA stated "TSA confirms that three Transportation Security Officers who work at Mineta San Jose International Airport have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The officers are receiving medical care and all TSA employees they have come in contact with over the past 14 days are quarantined at home. Screening checkpoints remain open and the agency is working with the CDC, as well as the California Department of Public Health and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department to monitor the situation as well as the health and safety of our employees and the traveling public."

Santa Clara County now has 45 confirmed COVID-19 cases as the cases in the United States have broken 1,000.
